Recovery Guild operates as a sub-acute drug detox center as well as a residential treatment center. Not all residential treatment centers can do detox, there are specific requirements.
In a very few cases, where the addiction has gone on for so long that there is a great chance of complications, such as seizures, an acute detox is required and that can only take place in a hospital setting where there is an abundance of nurses and doctors and continuous medical monitoring available in case there is a situation leading to heart failure or some other issue.
Is an Alcohol Detox Center Different?
The situation mentioned above, of people needing acute detox, is most often the case with people who have been alcoholic for a long time. Their bodies have become so accustomed to having alcohol, and usually in large amounts, that the sudden secession of drinking can send the body into seizures with a threat of heart failure. So, for these people an alcohol detox center needs to offer acute care and that always means a hospital setting.
This can also be the case with people suffering with an eating disorder along with addiction, and who have dropped so much weight that it is life threatening. But this is a relatively small percentage of addiction cases.
Here, at Recovery Guild, each person who comes in needing detox is immediately assessed by our clinical team, including our medical doctor, who supervises the detox process. Detox, or what is now often called withdrawal maintenance, can be very uncomfortable. Our medical doctor can help prescribe medications to deal with the symptoms of withdrawal, such as sleeplessness, anxiety, restlessness, nausea and more.
A Drug Addiction Detox that Offers Maximum Comfort
Besides our medical doctor’s supervision and the comfort he can afford our clients with medication, we’ve also recently rebuilt Recovery Guild to be one of the most beautiful and comfortable rehabs anywhere, with amenities the likes of which you’d find in a boutique hotel.
Most of our rooms are single occupancy with pillow-top queen size beds and flat screen TVs. Our gourmet chef is whipping up meals and snacks in our restaurant grade kitchen that are not only delicious and nourishing, but also designed to help heal bodies and minds that have long suffered the ravages of addiction. Additionally, there’s a hot tub, a koi pond, a swimming pool and the warm California sunshine.
There’s also a recreation room with pool table and larger TV, video games, as well as comfortable living rooms in both houses, even a garden where you can spend some time tending vegetables and flowers. But first, call us and let’s talk about how we can help you.
