Many people who come to California for addiction treatment decide to stay in here and continue treatment in an outpatient program. There is a wide variety of sober living in Los Angeles for those doing outpatient treatment.
While in treatment here at Recovery Guild we will already be considering these options for you and will review them once you get toward the end of your stay here. We’ll review the various sober living homes here and the outpatient programs available. There are many to choose from depending on what you’re looking to do in this stage of your recovery.
Los Angeles Sober Living May Not be for You
Of course, there’s always the possibility that you may not want to stay here in a Los Angeles sober living home, but would rather return home to continue your recovery. In that case, we will work with you to find a suitable situation for you back home, as well as an outpatient program to continue treatment, if that’s what you desire.
Obviously, we see many people come through residential treatment who decide not to go to an outpatient program and, in far too many cases, we end up seeing them relapse and return to a residential treatment center again. So, naturally, we recommend that you continue treatment after you leave residential care.
Typically, the outpatient treatment would go from several hours a day for five day a week down to a few hours a day for three days a week and then down to weekly individual and group sessions.
The Longer You’re in Treatment the Better Your Chances of Staying Sober
It’s been proven by outcome study after outcome study that the longer you’re in a treatment program the better your chances of succeeding at beating addiction. For those reasons we also recommend continuing care whether it’s in a sober living in Los Angeles or anywhere else.
The other great thing sober living does for you is it continues to build your social network of support. While living in a sober home with other people you make some of the closest friends and strongest bonds you’ll ever have. Bonds that can actually save your life. It isn’t at all unusual to suddenly experience very strong cravings three months, six months, even a year after getting clean.
Having these relationships to call on can literally keep you from relapsing and ruining all the hard work you’ve already put in. So, if you’re going to residential treatment, please consider continuing treatment afterwards. In the meantime call us and let’s talk about getting you started now.
